Treating Sleep Apnea Shown to Reduce Car Accident Risk by 70%

Millions of Americans suffer from the sleep breathing disorder, sleep apnea.  This disorder is characterized by snoring and breathing pauses during sleep.  Untreated, it can also lead to serious health side effects, including increased blood pressure, risk of stroke and Type 2 Diabetes. In a study conducted at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden, researchers found that treatment of sleep apnea with CPAP therapy reduced motor vehicle accident risk by 70%.
